ESSENTIAL OILS FOR A HEALTHY NEW YEAR

The New Year is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts, and with 2020 here, many people are starting to think about how they can make better decisions and lead healthier lives. From reducing stress to creating a greener home, to losing weight essential oils can help. Here are my favorites to get you started:

                                                                 Lavender

Lavender is a versatile Essential Oil. When you diffuse Lavender it is a great stress reliever for everyone around.

Lavender can be misted on your bed sheets and pillows to help you get a great night sleep.  Lavender promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety, depression, infections and nausea.

Lavender Oil is an anti-inflammatory and helps with psoriasis and eczema. Lavender is one of my favorite Essential Oils-it is always in one of my diffusers keeping me calm and relaxed.

                                                           PEPPERMINT

I use Peppermint Essential Oils for many remedies but the main uses for me are:

when I have trouble concentrating  I put some Peppermint Essential Oil in my diffuser and within a few minutes I feel more alert and energized.

After a hike or tough workout I dilute some Peppermint Essential Oil with a carrier oil, such as Jojoba, Olive Oil or Coconut Oil, 2 teaspoons of carrier oil with 3 drops Essential oil and massage my muscles. Oh what a relief it is!

                                                                 Tea Tree

Tea Tree Essential Oil can be used to treat and disinfect minor cuts by killing bacteria that can cause infection. Mix 1 drop of Tea Tree Essential Oil with one teaspoon of coconut oil, clean the cut with soap and water, apply a small amount of the Tea Tree mixture and cover with a bandage. Repeat once daily until a scab has formed. Remember to always dilute Essential Oils with a carrier oil when applying to skin.

Tea Tree Essential Oil is great for a chemical-free mouthwash. Add 1 drop of Tea Tree Oil to a cup of warm water, mix thoroughly and swish in your mouth for 30 seconds or so.

If you have an area in your home that is prone to mildew add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil and Lemon Essential Oil to your regular cleaner to keep the mildew from returning.

                                                                Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus Essential Oil is great in reducing congestion. You can add it to your diffuser or put a few drops in your next warm bath for a relaxing natural remedy.

Applying Eucalyptus to a cold sore may reduce pain and speed up the healing process. Dilute all Essential Oils with a carrier oil when applying to skin.

The best essential oils to diffuse in the New Year are the ones that'll boost your spirits for all the excitement to come. And if these oils can help you relax or possibly benefit your health in the meantime, all the better.

Diffusing a Sweet Orange Essential Oil is said to boost mood and increase feelings of positivity. Considering how easy it is to get discouraged while making changes in the New Year, we could all use a little pick-me-up here and there. A pleasing scent like this one is a great way to do that! I forget about Sweet Orange during the year, but come the Holidays I remember to get it into the diffuser.  Ahh!

If you've been feeling low on energy lately, lemongrass Essential Oil may help you put a little more pep in your step. This oil has often been lauded for its invigorating properties. Sounds like perfect motivation for getting those pesky tasks done that you need to do!
