How many times have we faced adversity and took it on alone?
When things go wrong, we ask for help, sometimes too late.
Often we think that we can tackle the problem alone and find out that we really could use a little assistance. We don’t want to be a burden to others, and we overestimate our ability to cope.
We don’t want anyone to think that we are too weak to face our problems and need to reach out. We have faced problems most of our lives and have overcome many of them.
There are times, however, when we need a little help. There is nothing wrong with reaching out and asking for it. Most of our family and many of our friends will respond. Often we are astounded and grateful for that response. We shouldn’t be surprised, because we would do the same for them. Many times, people want to be asked; they don’t want to interfere.
We see so much of that in this age of Covid when we are all isolated by necessity. The telephone is a Godsend as we keep in touch the best we can.
We support and advise each other as we navigate through this stormy time.
Sometimes, I tear up when I think of you and know I can’t see you and hug you. Right now, that’s not possible. But the Sole Sistas go on.
We are still mentoring those who need help, and I look forward to
a time when we can get together at our Yard Sale, Bingo, and other
activities.
The bottom line, we haven’t forgotten our purpose. Cancer is the culprit and always will be. We keep our eyes on it, regardless of Covid.
There is Hope on the horizon as the new Administration pledges that
the new order of business is “Covid, Covid, Covid.”
